Here's the recipe for everyone that wanted it. I think you will like it. Its easy and really good. Sunrise Breakfast Bread

Combine and heat until warm:

1 cup water

1 cup milk

1/4 cup vegetable oil

Combine in large mixing bowl:

2 cups flour

1/4 cup sugar

2 teaspoons cinnamon

1 teaspoon salt

2 packages or 2 Tablespoons dry active yeast

Beat egg into milk, water and oil mixture and add to flour mixture. Beat with mixer on med speed for about 2 minutes.

Add 2 1/2 cups flour a little at a time until well blended. Add raisins near the end and continue to mix until well blended.

Place in well oiled bowl and let rise until double- about 1 hour.

Poor into 2 - 5"x 9" OR 1 - 6"x 9" bread pan (s)

Bake at 350 for 35 minutes. Enjoy Super yummy as toast

I finally finished the socks and pattern I designed. I'm going to be offering this one, either as a free gift with purchase of sock kit or just a pattern. I really like the way it turned out. Cuff down with lace inset and lace cuff. I did it on 2 circular needles but it can be adapted just as easily to double points.

This is a close up of the cuff. It's not difficult. Anyone with basic knitting skills could make it. That's what I was shooting for. I haven't named it yet........ Any ideas???

I also finished the Sea Anemone sock. I love them. I dyed the fiber, then spun the yarn. It feels good to see things come full circle. They turned out pretty delicate. They have a picot edge cuff. The pattern is from a group I belong to online called Six Sock Knit Along. Fun pattern to do.

And this is what my sweet, adorable, not so little puppy Lily did to the foot treadle of my spinning wheel. BRAT !!! I'm convinced that God made all things annoying, cute, just so their species wouldn't die out......... Seriously, she lays right beside me while I spin and has tried to chew a few times. I've always been there to stop her.... Not this time... It can be sanded out I think.. I'm not that upset..... Well maybe I am...

There comes a time in your life, with or without kids, that you have already had to live through loosing that favorite crock bowl, coffee cup, glass turkey platter, van..... you get my drift. Stuff is stuff...... But now I'll be watching a bit more careful ......

This is a picture of my new fish tank!!! J's friend GAVE it to her, fish and all. J already has a 50 and 20 gallon in her room so she gave this one to me. I have always had some sort of tank, but in the most recent years it was just a 5 gallon with frogs and a Betta. When the all died I just decided to give it a rest. Well now just in time for summer spinning I have a lovely aquarium to watch. I'll just light a candle in the fireplace and listen to the peaceful bubbles. Yeah!!!!

I baked this new bread recipe this morning and I really like it!!! Easy and yummy. Guess everyone else likes it too since 1/2 a loaf is gone already. Baking always makes me feel better. Therapy..... I'm going to make enchiladas for dinner and sure wish Took was here to have some. I'm not going to make rice, just so she won't feel to bad. Let me know if you want the bread recipe and I'll be happy to write it in here.

I forgot to water this poor plant and it was completely wilted yesterday afternoon. Feeling guilty I rushed it into the kitchen and administered first-aide by way of the faucet. It completely came back to life. I thought I would share with you. It's called a monkey flower. And for most the morning it totally camouflaged the tottering heap of dishes I had decided defiantly not to do, which I couldn't stand any longer and ended up doing. (not that you really wanted to know that)
Well gotta go.. the girls are back from the store.

This post is not really in order.. but here goes......
My friend Sheena has a small herd of "spinning" sheep and has added three new babies to her growing flock. She invited A and I to see them on Friday afternoon. And she LET us bottle feed them.. I have never done that before. It was amazing... They suck it down so fast.. hahahah
I was going to be the grand photographer ( which I am NOT) but they drank it so fast... Still I got a few good shots..... They also move so fast but now I know how to set the camera to get some good shots... Can we come back Sheena??????




First they get their bottles... Then they are given grain... Then they get a choice bit of hay with I think alfalfa cause it looked good and healthy. They are sooooo sweet. A is in love and of course wants to have her own. (thanks Sheena for sharing !!) This child has definitely got some of her Grama Shirley's farm girl genes.
It was raining when we arrived and we were met at the door with the amazing warmth and smell of fresh Banana Bread, which we later ate..... WITH BUTTER...... haha and some yummy tea and we talked and shared fibery yarn stuff and it was the perfect day.....

Now back up to Wednesday I think... Susan, J and I went to a place called Summers Past Farms. Its a place here in East County that plants a plethora of flowers for everyone to enjoy. They sell homemade soap and live herbs and flowers to take home. They have classes and a coffee bar. You can walk little paths around the flowers and over bridges that cover a man made creek. It is a great place for inspiration. Not only for my fiber dyeing but you just want to get home and make your yard like this.

I'm teasing you with these pictures.... Most of them I am using for my dye lot this time so you'll have to wait till I post that on my Web site. Speaking of... should be ready soon. We're fussing with the shopping cart stuff. What a pain..

Intoxicating Lavender

My best friend Susan and I have planned for about a year to make lavender wands. She has a huge lavender bush in her side yard just outside her bedroom window. A perfectly timed sunny day, a few days ago, and it bloomed just for us.
Sunday was the perfect day for it. It was a stormy day and everyone else in the house was gone. We lit a fire in the fireplace and made a pot of tea. It really was intoxicating. I never realized the aroma was soooo strong and not only in the blossoms but the leaves too. Of course we put some stems on the fire. The whole house smelled amazing. Luckily our tea was infused with caffeine or we may have just passed out. We did muster enough energy to hit a couple of yarn stores later in the day. hee hee. Oh Yeah... and I figured out that even though it's a romantic idea and I'm sure I would feel really good giving them to people and they smell great and people would love getting them...
...I HATE MAKING LAVENDER WANDS......BORING........YAWN........... A couple of sprigs tied with a bow will have to do.

Monday was another cool day and I felt like I was on a bit of a roll so I made these.
When I was a little girl my Grama Merical used to come visit from Iowa every year. She taught me alot in the kitchen. She and I used to bake and bake and bake. I learned to make killer doughnuts, and sugar cookies that would make Santa leave a few extras under the tree. And Yes!!! Cinnamon Rolls. I have since then messed around with the recipes to be sure, because I can't leave anything alone, this batch wasn't the best, but still good. I love my Grama and I miss her. She's in heaven now, smelling up the place with heavenly yummy smells. Someday we'll bake together again.

And definitely not tinted blue... I took these pictures.... Can you tell. hahahaha

The Dad and His Wein.... No not after a tummy full of cinnamon rolls. Him and J went for a hike at Steltzer Park. .........Warm fire, nice dinner, comfy chair.........

I do have some bad news about Blessings, the little bird. Our hopes of releasing him to the wild won't be met. He died. Poor guy. One day he looked great, even flying in his cage a bit and in the morn. gone. A is ok, disappointed, but ok.
I never think much goes on around here till I sit to write. I guess theres really never a dull moment and for that I am grateful.

Time has gotten away from me this week. I have been working really hard on my web-site. I understand more now why people get paid alot of money to design them. It's not that it's hard, it's just that it is amazingly time and thought consuming. I am so excited though to share my passion with you all. I thought I might take a minute to share just a little bit of the amazing things God is doing in our back yard. The orange and lemon trees smell so good. The roses are blooming and my favorite tree is the most wonderful shade of green.

These rose's are really in MY backyard. Aren't they gorgeous. Now just so I don't give you the impression that its the garden of Eden around here. The other day I was out watering my flowers and looked down just in time to see a garter snake that had apparently lost the good fight to one of our kitties. YUK... but it was dead and my gallant 14 year old who is already a little annoyed at me being "such a girl" took care of it and threw it up on the hill. Not after of course my poor neighbor was disturbed out of his peaceful gardening thoughts to rescue me from the enormous vicious reptile. ITS A SNAKE, DUH !! I DIDN'T KNOW IT WAS DEAD OKAY. I DON'T LIKE SNAKES. I WAS EMBARRASSED....... ANYWAY

Our Kitty Benjamin is really a sweet little guy. He started out the usual way by bringing us Moths.. at which time we referred to him as Benny the moth slayer. Next he gave us a few giant grasshoppers, alive, in the house, but what can you do ... He was so proud. Next it was the alligator lizard, alive, minus a tail but still able to escape up the hill. I'm sure the snake was a present from him as well.

The other night I heard A screaming at the top of her lungs 'DROP IT BENNY, DROP IT BENNY'

And this is what our sweet little BRAT kitty brought us. He was very gentle with it because it is in perfect health. My daughter A is the hero. she saved it's little life. She is taking really good care of it feeding it every 2 hours, and since it's fully feathered it will be just fine. I'm so proud of her. She named it Blessings and it's a loud little fella. Every young person needs to nurture something so helpless. I'm glad she has the opportunity. I'm also glad that this opportunity came to us during Easter vacation as I have already spent alot of my time nurturing small helpless "things" . HaHa

Hoppin' down the bunny trail ??

Oh MY GOSH !!! Look who showed up at our house !!! And you thought all this time it was a bunny. Nope it's a wein. The Easter Wein..... He left a bunch of plain white hard boiled eggs which we quickly turned into these:

We don't mess around here. We see a hard boiled egg and thats it, move over yarn and fiber I'm comin' in.

And of course its not but another quick minute and OH YEAH!!! Daddies favorite.

We had a really nice Easter. The usual barbeque and chocolate stuff. I made a peach cobbler this year which we had to force down with lots of vanilla ice-cream. C wasn't here with us but we thought about her all day long. And of course remembered and rejoiced about the real reason we celebrate this holiday at all. The fact that our LORD is risen. I hope you had a wonderful Easter as well.
